About

Classic Snake built from scratch in vanilla JavaScript — no frameworks, no build step, no dependencies. It installs to your home screen and plays fully offline.

How to play

Steer the snake onto the apple. Every apple you eat makes the snake one segment longer and the game slightly faster. Running into a wall or into your own body ends the run. Chasing your own tail is fine — the tail moves out of the way as the head arrives.

Keyboard controls

Turns are buffered two deep, so a corner taken faster than the snake moves still registers both presses. A turn straight back into your own neck is ignored rather than fatal.

On a phone

Use the on-screen D-pad, or turn on swipe gestures in Settings and steer by dragging anywhere on the board — a single continuous drag can turn as many times as you like. Vibration feedback and swipe controls can each be toggled.

Settings

Three speeds: Turtle, Snake and Rabbit. Faster tiers pay more per apple, so a slow run is not the way to the top of the leaderboard. Wrap mode removes the walls entirely — leave one edge and you reappear at the other, which makes far longer runs possible and far more of them end in your own tail.

Speed and wrap apply to the next game you start, never to the one in progress.

Notes

The board is 20×20. Local scores are stored in this browser; the global leaderboard is separate from Tetris's, so the two never mix.
